Boneless Meat (kg) to Fleece (kg)
Doing complete whole-animal post-harvest analytics? This complex calculator takes the final freezer meat yield in kilograms and estimates the volume of grease wool (fleece) that same animal produced. The direct multiplier is approximately 0.1428 (or exactly 1/7th).
The 1-to-7 Ratio
How do we derive the 0.1428 multiplier to jump directly from meat to wool? We have to look at how both of these outputs relate back to the original live animal.
The Meat Yield
Boneless meat represents 35% (0.35) of the live weight.
The Wool Yield
Raw fleece represents 5% (0.05) of the live weight.
The Mathematics
If we divide the wool yield by the meat yield:
0.05 ÷ 0.35 = 0.142857
This means the fleece weight is exactly 1/7th of the boneless meat weight!
About this
Multiply the meat weight by 0.142857.
