Fleece Yield (kg) to Live Weight (kg)
Only know how much wool a sheep produced? This tool reverse-engineers the 5% fleece yield rule. Input the weight of the raw, unwashed grease wool (kg) to instantly calculate the estimated total live weight (kg) of the sheep that produced it. The multiplier is exactly 20.
The Mathematics of Total Reversal
On average, a sheep's raw grease wool (fleece) makes up about 5% of its total live body weight. Therefore, if you only have the weight of the sheared fleece, you can reconstruct the live weight by reversing that percentage.
Why multiply by 20?
5% is mathematically represented as the fraction 1/20 (since 5 goes into 100 exactly 20 times). Therefore, to find the 100% total live weight from the 5% fleece weight, you simply multiply the fleece by 20.
The Formula
Fleece kg × 20
= Live kg
About this
Multiply the wool weight by 20.
