When scaling down from a large bulk weight (pounds) to a tiny metric weight (grams), while simultaneously reducing the land area from 1,000 square feet to just a single square meter, the algorithm calculates two opposing forces.

Step 1: Mass Increase (Grams)

First, the pounds are converted to grams. One pound equals exactly 453.592 grams. So, 1 lb applied over the area becomes 453.592 grams applied.

Step 2: Area Decrease (m²)

Next, that 1,000 square foot area is shrunk down. 1,000 sq ft is roughly 92.903 square meters. We divide the total grams by 92.903 to find the concentration in just one single square meter.

The Final Formula

453.592 ÷ 92.903 = 4.882

Multiplying your lb/1000 sq ft rate by 4.882 gives you the exact gram weight you need for a single square meter plot.
