Need to translate a dry application rate into a liquid sprayer rate for the same field size? This phase-bridging tool assumes standard water density to translate dry weight into liquid pints without changing the area size. The multiplier is approximately 0.9587.

Bridging the State of Matter

Because the land area remains exactly 1 acre on both sides of this equation, the only mathematics taking place is the conversion of physical mass (lbs) into fluid volume (pints).

Area Neutrality

Since the field size is identical (one acre), we can safely ignore the area metric and focus entirely on converting the product itself.

The Phase Shift

We must translate pounds into liquid pints. While a pint is often approximated as a pound ("A pint's a pound"), a standard liquid pint of water actually weighs exactly 1.043 pounds. We divide the starting pounds by 1.043 to find the exact pint equivalent.

The Mathematical Conclusion

1 ÷ 1.043 = 0.9587

Multiplying your dry lbs/acre rate by 0.9587 gives you the equivalent liquid application rate in pints for that same acre. (Notice how close it is to 1:1!)
